Eventing & Competition

Eventing is refered to asthe ultimate test of horse and rider. It comprises three disciplines – Dressage, Cross-Country and Show Jumping.

The roots of Eventing as a sport stem from the military. Eventing is steeped in history and is one of Britain's most successful sports in terms of medals won at major Championships.

The ultimate form of Eventing competition is the THREE DAY EVENT when each test takes place on a different day starting on day one with Dressage, day two consists of two sections of Roads & Tracks separated by Steeplechase and finally, the challenge of the Cross Country course. On the final day, there is Show Jumping completing the triathlon of disciplines.

The sport also comprises ONE DAY EVENTS with all three tests on one day or TWO DAY EVENTS where competitors Dressage and Show Jump on day one and the second day is the Endurance day with cross country.

I have been eventing and competing since I was 11 years old and have trained and competed at a variety of grades within British Eventing, riding my own horses and riding for other people. I started at Pony Club ( competed in the Pony Club - JRN Team for Wales and The Borders) and have competed at International level (Tweeseldown International 3 Day Event).

I am especially pleased that I have been able to compete with one horse from Pony Club right through to Advanced Level (Affiliated) earning entry Blenheim.

I have also competed and been placed on other peoples horses:
Hayley Silgram
Debbie Walterdean.
